One of our favorite duos, Tube & Berger, aka Arndt Roerig and Marko Vidovic will play at Tropical Inn, Belgrade along with Coyu at Suara Showcase. We got the opportunity to speak with them about their latest release, their epic “Imprint of pleasure“ and ask them about the upcoming event, so read on and enjoy!
Hello guys, thank you for your time! How are you? What’s new?
Yoyo! At the moment we’re working on our live set that we will perform at SW4 festival in London this Saturday and we are excited. Our friend Paji will be on board with his violin and for the first time J.U.D.G.E. will be our guest on stage to perform „Disarray“, our new single.
Your remarkable track “Imprint of pleasure“ is one of the most recognizable and influential tracks of all the time. What led to this in your opinion and how does it make you feel?
Believe it or not but we both think it was our most spiritual session in the studio ever. We were going through some unfinished productions and it didn’t move us at all. Bad vibes. What to do? After a little discussion about the meaning of life, the world’s problems and ‘underground and commercial’ we came to the conclusion that we need to make music we really feel.
Unlike to other tracks, we finished it in just one night and we had a fantastic flow. Sometimes it takes weeks or even months until we are satisfied with a tune but IOP was different.
Listening to it the next day we didn’t know what to do with it. So it took some time until we showed it to Coyu from Suara who fell in love with the tune instantly and signed it right away. Good job Coyu!
Even people who don’t know electronic music that much know you because of „Imprint of pleasure“. People also want to hear it in your sets so how often do you play it?
We try to play it as often as possible. It’s just cool to see people still loving the track. We also love the remix from Monkey Safari and play this one from time to time and there is a new edit of IOP we will play in the near future.
Your current release for Suara is your „Dis“ EP with two new tracks „Disarray“ and „Dis Track“. What was the inspiration for this release? Could you tell us something more about it?
Both tunes are collaborations. The more rocky ‘Disarray’ with the London based singer J.U.D.G.E and ‘Dis Track’ on the flip side with our Berlin based Robosonic homies who have their roots deep in the Hip Hop hood. The tracks and the acts are very different from one another but both sessions were great.
Richard (J.U.D.G.E) is a fantastic singer and songwriter and we wanted to work with him from the first time we heard one of his tracks. We are sure we will make more music together soon. We met Robosonic in Australia in early 2013 and had a great time and loads of laughs, weed and drinkies.
Even if our style or roots are not the same, we thought we have to give it a try and make a track together. The boys come over from Berlin and brought their positive Robosonic energy and the rest is history.
What is your goal when you make music and can we expect some new releases from you soon?
Being in the game for some time now we realized that we need to be sure with what we are doing. If the piano is a bit boring – Erase it! When the beat is not nice and groovy – Erase it too! And when we think we could do better we erase all and start over again. You have to feel it just like Jack Black in School Of Rock. Otherwise you just wasting your time and the time of your fans. Problem is, you can’t force the magic to happen… We go through ups and downs in the studio and the latest up we shared with our label mum and party sister Juliet Sikora. Our new baby ‘Back In The Days’ will be out on release number 100 of our label Kittball Records and it’s an homage to the good old times when we started raving. The track has a cool 90’s touch and we think it will destroy the dancefloors of this planet. What a stupid phrase by the way.
You are playing at Tropical Inn along with Coyu this Friday, please tell us something more about your cooperation with him and Suara? How did you guys meet?
We known Coyu for many years now, we love working with him and the Suara crew and we consider the Kitty label as our 2nd home. We meet Coyu in many different places in different countries but having a good paella on his terrace with a breathtaking sea view was where it all started. For our next album we plan to invite him to Germany and make a tune together but that’s a secret. Don’t tell him 😉
What can we expect to hear from you this Friday? What are you preparing for us?
We will defo try some new stuff we haven’t played before and of course we will also drop some T&B classics. It’s important for us to play FOR the people and not for the style police. We will try to create this sweet energy that makes a party a good party. We can’t wait!
