Interview: André Galluzzi

André Galluzzi has been a vinyl DJ for more than two decades now with residencies at Tresor, Ostgut and Berghain and releases for like Cadenza, Cocoon and Ostgut Ton. André is the co-founder of Taksi records and label head of ARAS. The Clubber got a chance to have André for a little chat which you can read further.

How did it all start for you? How was your beginning in dance music?

I loved Techno since I was little. I became a DJ when working as a bartender in a club at sweet age of 14. Once, I surprisingly got the chance to fill in for the DJ. An experience that change the course of my life you can say.

You are playing gigs every weekend – How has the last months been for you?

I have been in Buenos Aires, Mexico, Paris, Tel Avid, Istanbul and so many more. I get used to travel since now more than 25 year but I still appreciate it a lot. There is so much to discover, unexpected new locations, great people and fresh spirit from all over world. This impressions are the most powerful input for my studio work between the weekends.

If you could change anything about your job as a DJ, what would it be?

I am never satisfied, don’t be selfish or pleased with your performance. I am a perfectionist. If I could choose, I would return much often to „all night long sets“. You can’t thrill people within less than 2 hours.

You are a passionate DJ, working with vinyl all the way. How has it come to this?

How does it ever became different today? My records are my instruments on stage, I am a performer, a musician.

What are you working on for your label ARAS right now?

As you know, I spent lots of time in the studio in 2014 to release my debut solo album “Alcatraz’ in 2015 which has been a dream since long. After the album, I experimented in different studios to develop several ideas. Some of them going to be released soon early in 2016 on ARAS, some later by summer 2016, followed by nice album remixes.

How would you describe the techno that is being released at your label and what is your future plan for it?

ARAS should offer a place for experimental techno sound, a labor, a chance for young talents I meet and working with. The label is not under pressure of expectations. ARAS currently gather way independently.

You have done the latest Vice thump mixsession. What do you think makes a mix really interesting?

A good mix is a timeless mix, that’s very important to me. And the smooth arrangement and steering of a mood. A mood you remind and you want to repeat several times.

Have you ever imagined doing something else than music?

No option.

Any special collaboration planned for next year?

Several! Bite my lip for now, sorry but stay excited. hehe
