Dario Sorano: I have noticed that you “hit it hard”, so this is the way I’ll play!

Dario Sorano was only 14 when he realized that he can express himself only trough techno music. Since 1994. Dario is a DJ, and shortly after that he decided to deepen his musical education, so he learned how to play both acoustic and electric drums; later he got into analog synthesizer. He worked with DJs like Sasha Carassi, Sutter Cane, Snello, C-System, Spiros Kaloumenos and others.

Dario will be playing in Kotor on 29th of January, and The Clubber Magazine’s crew got an opportunity to chat with him about his first techno party, his releases, his plans for the future and some other things. You can read the whole interview below. Enjoy!

Hi! First of all, thank you for your time! How are you?

Hi Montenegro, I’m fine, thanks.

You started playing over 20 years ago, how did you get into electronic music and what made you want to become a DJ and a producer?

It all started in 1990 when I was still a kid. I followed my brother Diego who was a Techno DJ at that time. After a while, he stopped being a DJ, I took his records and I started to learn the mixing techniques, arranging at the same time small musical events in a community center called Macello.
Then I approached the largest organization of events in Naples; actually playing very little because at that time there were few people dancing techno music, there were a few events and consequently it was difficult to carve out a space in that environment.
After a while I distanced myself from that organization, preferring to go it alone.
In a few years, thanks to technology and social networks, I managed to have an international exposure, both as a DJ and as a producer, starting to climb the ranks of the main store of electronic music. In so doing, I started playing all over Europe, working with artists the likes of : Sasha Carassi Slim, C-System, Spiros Kaloumenos,, Inregular Synth, Kostas Maskalides Pappenheimer OCHS & KLICK, Beltram, DJRush, and more …

DSC01342 You’re playing both acoustic and electronic drums, how and why did you get into it?

I was born in a house of musicians. I have always had a drums at home but with the electronic drums I started a little later. In those years I could not afford to buy a Roland 909 .. ..

Do you remember your first techno party? What can you tell us about it?

My first real party was my 18th birthday. Usually at parties of 18 years there’s commercial or Latin American music, but not in my party! In my party there was only room for techno Music! It took place in the garage of my house with all my friends! We had so much fun!

Your new track “Mechanics” is out now on Dolma Rec. What was the inspiration for it?

The inspiration that led me to produce this latest work for Dolma Rec. was my project Recycled: it is set of tracks that I produced through different samples that I never used. It is thanks to this project that „Mechanics “came out.

What are some of the best and worst experiences you’ve had doing gigs over the years?

The best musical event where I played is definitely the Nature One. It was an inspiring and unforgettable experience! The worst? There is not the worst! Each party has its own charm and thanks to techno music we always have fun, even with a few people.

Do you have any special plans for future releases? What can you tell us about them?

Yes, I have many plans for my future, but the most important is to open my first own label to spread my music. I have different music tracks that other labels did not appreciate and I’d like to revisit and spread them.

DSC01332You’ll be playing in Kotor in a few weeks. Have you ever performed in front of Montenegrin audience? Do you have any expectations?

I have never performed in Montenegro.. It’s my first time first time and I can’t wait .. I just hope to entertain all of you.

And what can they expect from you and your set?

I have noticed on social networks that you “hit it hard” .. so this is the way I’ll play!

And lastly, which advice would you give to young DJs and produces who are trying to make in techno industry?

I have two impartial advices: love music and believe in yourself.
