Talented Italian producer and DJ, Luigi Madonna started his career really young. He found an inspiration for his music in work of great names in techno music such as Jeff Mills, Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing and Joseph Capriati. Quality of his work has soon been recognized and from 2008 he releases music for notable labels, Drumcode, Alleanza, Sleaze Records and Plus 8. Luigi Madonna is going to play at The Tube club in Belgrade, Serbia and in this matter we got the chance to speak with him about his music and got to know him a little better.
Hello Luigi, first of all thank you for your time! How are you? What’s new?
Hello! Pleased to share some words with you all. I’ m very good and looking forward Friday at The Tube.
You are very successful techno dj and producer so how hard it was to accomplish all the things you did and get to the place you are today?
It’s very hard at moment there are so many good djs and producers. From many years I worked a lot in the studio to make something that reflect my soul, something new and fresh along with quality, I think it was a good combination for growing of my career. So I’m really happy about it but I know there is still a long way to do.
Who or what has the biggest influence on your production?
My city and my country reflected a lot on my music.
You released for labels such as Drumcode, Alleanza, Sleaze Records, Plus 8 Records. What is it like to cooperate with big labels? What was your experience like?
It’s a such emotional experience, I remember my first times on Drumcode, Plus8. I was really happy and excited, this made me a new energy to make even better.
Some of your notable tracks such as ‘’Primo’’, ‘’Unconditional Beauty’’ and recent ‘’Le Ly Land’’ are released for Drumcode. What’s the story behind your first release for Drumcode?
So after some good feedback from Adam Beyer I tried to send him something and then… I started to work on DC in 2011. I did a various artist called “Napoli connection” alongside Joseph Capriati, Rino Cerrone, Markantonio and Carassi. At moment it’s a solid relationship with Drumcode and I’m so honored of this.
Recently, you remixed ”Basic Elements” by Joseph Capriati for the remix EP that came on Drumcode. Can you tell us something more about this cooperation? What was your idea at the beginning when you started to do the remix?
Yes, I was so excited when Joseph called me for this project! When I started to make it I changed so many ideas before the final version, it was a hard work because I didn’t want to change the harmony and soul of that track at all after 3 months I did it!
Are you currently working on some new releases? Can we expect new music from you soon?
There are two remixes coming out on Sleaze records and Unrilis Records. I’m working on my new stuff, I’m thinking of making an album as well… Let’s see 🙂
You played in Belgrade before and our audience can’t wait to hear you again. Do you have some memories maybe, or impressions of our crowd from the last time you were here?
I remember the warehouse venue, it was so amazing! Then crowd gave me a lot of energy and smile!
Do you have a message for all of those who will see you at The Tube on Friday night?
