Monkey Nenufar – PussPo EP [Reduce Records]

Ok, here we have an interesting debut release of the new born French duo, Monkey Nenufar, on their new baby label Reduce Records. These two, Ben Vedren and Leiris, described themselves as two monkeys making music, but from the sound of it we can tell there’s some serious shit cooking in their studio. Sorry for the language.

The EP is made out of two original tracks, PussPo and Element, each one on the other side of vinyl, yeap, vinyl. I’m not sure if I could define this genre exactly right, but tracks sound like some minimal house music with funky elements inside if one could say something like that.
PussPo is real mood setter, starts pretty comfy with really smooth percussions. Later in the track we become hypnotized by that sexy sub bass groove and easy going deep pad line. In the infosheet I read that those whispery vocals are in fact ‘70s porn lyrics. Made me horny, it will sure do the trick with you too.

Element, the second track of the EP, is much more moving than the first one. Again we have sub bass groove, now in 4/4, followed by freaky percussions perfectly combined together. Pretty minimalistic with certain “space” within elements and slightly reverbed vocal line. Somewhere around the middle of the track there are very very nice synth sounds, but still pretty minimal. Nice music for sure.

You could really tell that the first one is more of a warm up track, while the other one is the hand-riser when a couple of drinks go down. Reduce Records is starting its work in the end of November, and if we’re judging by the first release, there is some really nice music yet to come. Take a listen and support this baby project, it could grow into a serious one!
