Italian rising star on the techno scene, Fabio Florido introduced himself to our audience last year when he played in Belgrade along with Richie Hawtin. Now, after his Exit Festival performance, we are once again welcoming Fabio to Apgrade. We got the chance to speak about him joining an impressive selection of PLAYdifferently MODEL 1 Ambassadors, his music and Fabio also revealed some details about his previous gigs in Serbia. Enjoy!
Hi Fabio, how are you? Let’s start with you becoming one of the PLAYdifferently MODEL 1 Ambassadors, among some of the biggest names on the scene. What is your goal as the Ambassador of MODEL 1?
Hi dear Clubber readers, nice to meet you all. My goal as MODEL1 Ambassador is to show the capability of the mixer and get as many people as possible involved, amazed and excited about it. It’s the same as when you discover something incredible and you can’t wait to tell everyone. I believe this mixer is exactly what needed to happen to bring music, sound quality, ideas to a new amazing level and I want everyone to know!
You said that music was the way you have learned how to communicate with people. How do you see music? How does MODEL 1 help you to express yourself better as a performer?
Exactly. Music like Art is the highest form we have to share concepts, ideas and emotions. As with everything else also Music needs to evolve in order to keep new generations entertained along the years, MODEL1 allows me to give to the audience something they’ve never heard or experienced before. I can sculpt and model frequencies which were impossible to reach until now as well as layer tracks in a way that I find quicker and more intuitive. The overall sound is homogeneous, deep and so warm definitely helping me to reach people’s vibrations more directly. The feel I get every time I touch it is to have in front of me a solid peace of technology, I feel more secure of myself.
What inspires you the most as a producer and as a DJ?
What inspires me the most is definitely listen to other people’s sets and music by actually going to places to have a full experience. This why I love Berlin so much, in my days off I can have a huge variety of things to do. A concert, a Jazz bar, a Techno or House or more Deep intricate event or even street Artists while you walk through the city. Everything is inspiring. Sometimes inspiration comes from a sunny day or by reading a book or even from a bad news. The secret is to be able to “see” things.
You recently released Escape EP on Elevate. What is the inspiration behind it? Was there a story you wanted to tell with your music?
I definitely wanted to say: “Hey everyone. I’m here and I finally found my balance between the City I’m living, the new studio and my creativity.” You know I was living in Italy then London, Ibiza and now Berlin taking experiences and new sounds from each of these cities. I feel for the first time complete and the music I’m making is fully representing me.
ESCAPE EP is the last musical step I did, looking forward now for what will come next.
Are you planning or working on some new music?
Definitely yes. It took me sometimes to have the Berlin studio ready but now I can release my creativity whenever I want..well that’s not true, the time is not much but I’m trying to spend time writing new music whenever is possible. Watch my socials for more news soon!
How did your cooperation with Minus and Richie Hawtin started?
It’s a story started in ibiza around 2013 when I finally got to know him by working for his ENTER. Ibiza party in the promotion team accompanied by a lot of USB sticks I was giving him week after week with my new music. After he listened to me playing at some house party in the island I received the proposal to become ENTER. resident. It was the beginning of a relationship that brought me also on Minus the following year and involved in more future projects.

Our audience got to know you last year at Apgrade Belgrade where you played along with Richie Hawtin, and then earlier this year you played at Exit festival. You gained a lot of fans here, so are there any memories from these gigs that you would like to share?
My memories from Serbia are incredibly beautiful. Both times I was there was a powerful experience and that’s because i believe the people in Serbia are educated about music and they know how to make a party. When you play to a crowd that shows so much energy it really can’t go wrong! If you want to know something more private I have to say when I played in Belgrade I had fever at 38 degrees but ended up play much more longer until the sun was high in the sky hehe.. when I played at Exit I had two flights cancelled and ended up travelling with no sleep from a previous gig for 12h to reach Novi Sad on time and still missing the first half hour of my set! Despite this, your energy made me forget everything!
Upcoming Apgrade will bring you back to Serbia’s capital, and this time with Agoria who promised us a crazy night. What are your expectations?
I feel every year or even less I make new steps forward with my skills, I believe if last times was already good, this time it will be even better! I always like to beat the previous gigs and bring to the people always something new. I’m looking forward to be back and show you what happened in the last months in my music folders.
What are you preparing for us and do you maybe have a message for your fans here?
It will be an intricate Techno journey. I want reach your most hidden frequencies and don’t forget I will be bringing my MODEL1 PLAYdifferently mixer.
2016. was a very successful year for you, what are your highlights of it?
2016 was a great Year! I joined B4Bookings, played in many of the most relevant festivals/Clubs in Europe, released music on SCI+TEC, ELEVATE, 303Lovers and I was just announced as Playdifferently MODEL1 Ambassador.
You career rising very quickly. How do you see yourself and your career in a few years? Do you have some goal that you would like to accomplish?
Simply keep improving my sound and figure. Hoping to give always to a larger amount of people more and more unique moments with my sets and music…and also with my way of being.
