The Iranian born and Danish native Nima Gorji is a producer, DJ and label boss of Welt Recordings and NG Trax with more that two decades long career. Nima played at Belgrade’s DOT club and after his gig we got a chance to ask him a few questions. Enjoy!
You just played in Belgrade at DOT club, so how was it? What are your impressions?
I’m very happy to be invited by my good friend Shoxy and to experience the Underground scene of Belgrade. Absolutely great night and would love to come back soon.
What do you think about Ibiza music scene, after so many years living and working there?
Well that’s a kind of a personal question. But I have to say that Ibiza as I knew it is gone, and the Underground scene with it. Nowadays 95% of the island is Commercial as if Dubai has moved in 😉
What are in your opinion charms of playing in a smaller and more intimate club?
It is the fact that the crowd is more selected and in the know of the music. And for dj’s like me that’s a big charm.
You recently did a remix of Daniel Sanchez’s track ’Pearled Into Droplets’ which was released on Bad Barbie Records. How did your cooperation with Daniel started?
It was few years ago Daniel contacted me to do a remix for Bla Bla music. Then he asked me for an ep and a second one as well. From that moment we became friends.
After ’Jtar’ you prepared the last release of the year for Bla Bla Music and it’s out on December 31st.Tell us something more about the release and the idea behind it?
It is an interesting release concept; the label focuses on the artists who made their true one-shot production, so the listener doesn’t have to choose from several tracks. Either take it or leave it.
What’s your favorite thing when it comes to producing your own track, and what do you like about remixing?
My favorite thing about producing is that I can play and jam around with some machines and record. What I love in Remixing is that the parts I get gonna inspire me to deliver my final version of it. Generally I love this whole process.
Tell us something about your label NG Trax, what upcoming releases we shouldn’t miss?
You shouldn’t miss non of them 😉 NG is a short for my name and a new baby I created to release more straight up dance floor tracks from me and friends I like. Next on the label is a long awaited EP from Shoxy, and I can’t wait till it comes out early 2017.
You helped building up the underground scene in Denmark and witnessed it developing in Europe in general in your long career. What has changed to better and is there something you liked better in the late 90’s and early 2000’s?
I believe history repeat it self, regarding productions we are evolving a lot and the recordings sounds more and more analogue like it was before. This is something very positive that I see nowadays. I wish I could say the same about the nightlife in general. In fact I see more and more commercialism everywhere in events and festivals.
By your opinion, what is important for clubbing scene to grow?
To choose innocently out of passion, a sound or a Dj one like to hear. This way you will put new seeds to grow.
2016 is nearly over so what are your highlights of this year and plans for the next?
I had a Nice and crazy year in 2016, difficult to point out some highlights, although Fuse Day party at Bennimusa park on Ibiza was one them. As well as lakescape party in Iasi Romania that lasted for 2 days… etc.
Next year is at the corner and I’m happy to be booked for several European gigs and a little tour in south America.
My labels Welt Recordings and NG Trax gonna release some amazing artists already planned + stuff from my self.
